Southwest Airlines began service in 1971, and has grown to become the fourth largest domestic U. S. airline, flying to 58 cities in 30 states (Southwest.com). Based in Dallas, it operates more than 2,700 flights a day with a fleet of Boeing 737s, and has one of the youngest jet fleets in the domestic airline industry.
